Sr. Electrical Engineer
Primary Function:
Under direction from the Electrical Chief Engineer, responsible for design, per discipline area of responsibilities, all area of power plant as assigned.
Typical Duties:
1. Develop project specific specifications, evaluate proposals, and issue requisitions for discipline-related equipment.
2. Review vendor approval drawings for correctness and contract requirements.
3. Implement vendor information into design document, (i.e., vendor P&ID) and integrate into Company drawing, shop drawings, motor schematics, panels to interconnection drawings, etc.
4. Understand discipline-based components of power plant and cycle and rudimentary knowledge of complete plant.
5. Provide engineering calculations using defined procedure and company formats and margins. Calculations may be for equipment or complete plant cycle, depending on discipline, i.e., short circuit calculations, pump head and flow, heat balance, valve sizing, HP requirements, pipe wall thickness calculations, etc.
6. Work from past project or general direction and complete major areas of work, i.e., complete P&ID for equipment calculation, specification, bid analysis; requisitions, vendor review; complete line list; draft P&ID and issue. Spec, bid-analysis, requisition all PI, TI, TE, FE, FT, etc. on project. Spec, provide bid analysis, requisition MCC, vendor review, one-line drawing; motor list, schematics. Design and procure belt conveyor components and fabrication, etc.
7. Coordinate major vendor and function as primary Company liaison. Requires working knowledge of contracts and purchase orders.
8. Complete engineering task assigned by lead engineer. Capable of doing multiple tasks concurrently.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
BS in engineering with two to four years of power plant, industrial, operations and/or construction engineering experience or equivalent. All basic skills of Engineer I with complete understanding of power plant building equipment blocks, based upon discipline. Understanding of other discipline requirements and schedules. Basic understanding of construction methodology including scheduling, productivity, subcontracts, etc. Ability to communicate both in oral and written forms. Working knowledge of codes associated with their particular discipline. Knowledge of discipline related equipment/plant testing procedures, guidelines, methods, etc.
